Job Description

The Warehouse Assistant will be in charge of controlling the movement of stock through the warehouse/storage facilities, monitoring goods in and out, moving and handling items securely and efficiently, and keeping stock records.

Other responsibilities include reporting to management (purchasing, storing, and issuing) office consumables (tea, coffee, etc.) and resolving day-to-day maintenance and furniture re-allocation depending on business needs.

Job Duties

  • Goods loading and unloading from delivery trucks
  • Checking and inspecting received items to ensure they are of the correct quantity, type, and acceptable quality.
  • Keeping track of and reporting any damaged, missing, or faulty items.
  • guarantee that a stock room layout planogram is created to guarantee that orders are placed in accordance with stock room capacity and that right par levels are maintained, hence decreasing write-offs and risk.
  • Signing the delivery note after ensuring that all products have been received in full.
  • Moving the goods to the appropriate receiving location in the warehouse.
  • Labeling of items and put-away / Allocation of goods to correct locations.
  • Making certain that all inventory and system processes are finished on the same day.
  • Moving and packing goods to the dispatch area to ensure they are ready for pickup.

  • Before products are shipped, they must be packaged and labeled.
  • Goods storage space allocation
  • Moving and re-stacking items to create room for future deliveries.
  • Keeping track of objects, their location, and their amount
  • Taking stock and managing inventory.
  • Stock take and stock level reporting
  • Ensure that security and health and safety procedures are followed.
  • Keeping the warehouse and storage rooms clean and removing packaging materials
  • Perform ADHOC duties in accordance with business and operational needs.
  • Storage and supply of office supplies – applicable to various sites and subject to approval.
  • Conduct a weekly assessment of office maintenance needs.
  • Perform maintenance tasks in accordance with corporate needs, i.e.
    • Lighting bulb replacement
    • Refueling the generator using diesel
    • Office furniture repair
    • As needed, install and remove office furniture.

Requirements

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • General 2 years of working experience
  • Computer literacy in MS Excel as well as MS Office
  • SAP (advantageous)

Physical Abilities

  • Must be able to pick up and move stock goods and equipment, with assistance if needed – in accordance with H&S regulations.
  • The capacity to move and transport equipment as needed is required.

  • Communication, both verbal and written.

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Experience with operational systems and processes will be advantageous.
