Job purpose
- To make certain that food and drinks are professionally served to guests.
- To make sure cleaning procedures are effective and efficient.
- To uphold a high standard of hygiene inside and outside of homes.
Requirements
- Grade 10/Standard 8 (Essential/Minimum)
- AET Level 4 (Essential/Minimum)
- 0-6 Months (Essential/Minimum) Operational experience as a basic waiter and cleaner
- Psychometric Testing (Required/Minimum)
- Certificate of Fitness (Mandatory/Essential)
Duties & Responsibilities
Cleaning
- Perform room cleaning duties and provide relevant support.
- Ensure that the restrooms and offices are kept spotless at all times.
- Washing of dishes and silverware and cleaning of the dining and bar areas
- Make beds and replace blankets.
- Wash the dishes and keep the rooms tidy.
- Launder clothes and towels.
Operational Support
- Greet and welcome guests and residents
- Guide and escort visitors to the best seating areas
- Take beverage orders by presenting a beverage list
- Present a serving menu, take orders, and serve
- Attend to tables in the dining room
- Accurately take drink orders
- Serve food as directed
- Lay tables according to specifications.
Safe and Healthy Work Environment
- Adhere to the Safety First principle
- Adhere to the Safety Health Environment and Community (SHEC) programs at all times related to specific area of work
- Incidents and accidents are reported immediately to the supervisor of the area according to set procedures, this include Hazard Identification and Risk Assessments (HIRA’s)
- Take necessary SHEC precautions when working with sharp and hot instruments in the kitchen
- Work area is cleaned and the environment restored to its original state after completion of a job.
