Job Description

The Security Officer – Command and Control will provide a frontline functional security service to protect the Company’s people and assets at a designated site, ensuring adherence to security rules, procedures, objectives, and client needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow stringent standard operating procedures (SOPs) when performing assigned goods shipment/movement activities.
  • Control freight access and egress and conduct searches on vehicles, commodities, and equipment entering/leaving the company’s freight area.
  • Where remote surveillance is not practicable, provide skilled security escorts for direct control over high-risk events.
  • Conduct surveillance duties in high-risk regions and other locations.
  • In compliance with procedures, conduct physical and x-ray searches of people, luggage, and vehicles.
  • Watch personnel movement and conduct in sensitive locations for suspicious or abnormal activity.
  • Maintain vigilance and discover reports, and correct threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Promote optimal system utilization to maximize the effectiveness of security measures and allow for the early detection of potential indicators of theft and/or odd behavior.
  • Conduct regular system integrity checks to ensure that all equipment is in good working condition and is properly configured.
  • Verify that access and surveillance management systems are configured effectively in accordance with approved protocols and site needs.
  • In accordance with processes and protocols, respond to CCTV and other alert circumstances.

Requirements

  • Matric/Grade 12 and a suitable tertiary qualification at NQF level 4 in Security Management, or an equivalent recognized qualification.
  • PSIRA registration – Grade C (minimum).

Skills and Experience

  • Appropriate security experience is required.
  • Knowledge and experience with surveillance equipment would be advantageous.
  • Security access management strategies, policies, and procedures must be understood and applied.
  • Analytical skills and the ability to identify anomalies are required.
  • Ability to use investigative procedures and generate extensive incident reports.
  • Valid driver’s license (Code 08)
  • Security clearance that is valid (No criminal history, passing a pre-employment polygraph test)
