Job Description

All POS transactions and documentation must be handled correctly to ensure customer satisfaction. Ensure that no products or stock go through the Point Of Sale without being paid for.

Duties

Cash Handling

  • Check that all cash (including floats and petty cash) assigned to you is in balance (No shorts and overs).
  • On the Point-of-Sale Terminal, capture the right payment type received from customers.
  • Ensure that pick-ups are done correctly and within the limits specified.
  • Check that all of your daily takings have been placed in the Drop Safe/vault.
  • Ensure that cash-ups are completed correctly at the end of your shift.
  • Ensure that any transactions involving other stores’ money, deliveries, and bids are properly processed.
  • Ascertain that commodities are properly identified and captured on the Point-of-Sale Terminal.
  • Make sure you always have enough change.

Administration

  • Sign, compile, and file all documents pertaining to the cashier’s function.

Ready for Business

  • Follow the CB Way’s Ready for Business and Beyond My Control.

Customer Service

  • When checking in and out customers’ products, provide fast, friendly, and efficient service to all Cashbuild customers.
  • Make sure you follow the company’s dress code.
  • Customers should be sent to the appropriate person who can assist them.

Safety (OHSA) Requirements

  • Occupational health and safety (OHSA) compliance (e.g., ensuring customer and staff safety) within the area of responsibility
  • Any irregularities should be reported to the Store Manager.

Security Awareness

  • Security (e.g., guarantee system password control at till point are comply to) (e.g., ensure system password control at till point are adhere to)
  • Ensure cash security and transportation to the cash office in accordance with the Cashbuild Way criteria.

Requirements

  • Matric/Grade 12 or a minimum of one year of work-related experience.

Skills

  • Communication skills in English and the primary language spoken in the geographical area where the position is available.
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure
  • Must be able to perform basic calculations accurately
  • Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, and Public Holidays
