Job Purpose
Receive and record large amounts of cash, as well as put cash onto buyer’s cards for purchase. On a daily basis, cash receipts are matched against the SPS system. Dally cash bags and coin boxes should be prepared. On a daily basis, keep track of and balance your funds.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive various payments as well as other cash and cash-related transactions; verify and post to appropriate accounts; issue receipts.
- Enter the total cash received into the SPS system to determine the total cash received. Count money, give change, and issue receipts for funds received. Maintain a clean and well-stocked cashier area.
- Prepare cash receipts for deposit in the bank.
- Prepare daily cash reports and keep the cash drawer balanced.
- Daily balance/reconcile cash and petty cash voucher receipts, and investigate and resolve any out-of-balance issues.
- Process/verify daily cashier cash transfers.
- Maintain computerized files required to compile daily reports.
- Inform consumers about essential currency and cash-related rules, policies, and procedures.
- Facilitate the handover of daily takings with CIT officers.
- Direct patrons to relevant offices, as required, to seek resolution of concerns beyond the information accessible to the cashier.
- Monitoring cash as it is counted by the internal bank in the counting-house.
- Daily balancing with the cashiering cashbook administrator at the end of the day.
- Allocating sundries payments (trolley, electricity, and rent)
Requirements
- Grade 12/Matric
- 6 months of cashiering experience.
- Ability to lift heavy containers
- Computer literacy
