Job Description
The primary responsibility of this role is to defend and safeguard the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) Head Office’s staff, facilities, and assets.
Detailed Description
The successful candidate will be accountable for the following key performance areas:
- Control access and egress in operational zones.
- Carry out guarding, patrolling, and escorting tasks to protect the facility from illegal and/or unauthorized activity.
- Identify, respond to, and report on all security and emergency threats, signals, and situations in all conditions.
- Monitor, maintain, and assure the proper operation of all security systems, equipment, and signals.
- During an emergency, conduct evacuations and emergency drills.
- Perform administrative tasks such as report drafting and the completion of electronic occurrence records and pocketbooks.
- Proactively increase understanding of functional area, demonstrating willingness to develop (including methodologies and practices).

Requirements
Candidates must have the following qualifications to be considered for this position:
- A Grade 12 certificate or a NQF 4 qualification of similar level;
- A Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA) Grade C certification;
- A certificate of competence in firearms handling (i.e. a 9 mm handgun, a semi-automatic rifle, and a shotgun);
- A minimum of two to five years of experience working in a security setting;
- Sound knowledge and understanding of applicable legislation, including, but not limited to, the National Key Points (NKP) Act 102 of 1980 and Regulations, the Firearms Control Act 60 of 2000, the Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1977, and all SARB policies, procedures, and operational instructions relating to firearms use;
- A degree of medical, psychological, and physical fitness commensurate with the position’s inherent needs;
- Professionalism, discipline, and the physical fitness to work long hours are required.
- Availability to work shifts (including weekends) and fulfill duties as necessary under operational circumstances.

- NKP training has been finished;
- PSIRA training has been completed; and/or
