The Thandulwazi Maths and Science Academy was founded in 2005 as a pioneering effort of St Stithians College to provide educational opportunities for students and teachers in public schools throughout Johannesburg.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN BECOMING A TEACHER?
If so, the Thandulwazi Intern-Teacher Training Programme, a collaboration between the Thandulwazi Trust and St Stithians College, provides prospective teachers with the opportunity to study for a 4-year Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) or a 2-year Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) via long-distance learning with public tertiary institutions while gaining workplace experience at St Stithians College.
This post will be available beginning in January 2024. The role offers the opportunity to be supervised by an experienced educator as well as get essential professional training and work experience in an IEB school setting.
Preference will be given to aspiring teachers who are:
- Candidates who are interested in Part-time studies for a 4-year Bachelor of Education (B. Ed) in the Foundation and Intermediate Phase, Intermediate and Senior Phase, Senior and FET Phase, and a 2-year PGCE are a passion.
- Majoring in Mathematics, Life Sciences, Physical, English, Accounting, and African Languages.
- Either a grade 12 with a bachelor’s degree and has been accepted by a public tertiary institution, is currently enrolled in a public tertiary institution and working towards a teaching degree or is currently in grade 12 and hoping to enroll in a PGCE program after finishing an undergraduate degree.
